Mohammed Wardi (1932-2012) from Wadi Halfa in Nubian Sudan is one of the best-known Nubian songwriter and singing artists. Since his young age he was interested in poetry, literature, music and singing
He composed and sang many songs in Nubian and Arabic, focusing on romance, Nubian heritage and patriotism, and played a variety of instruments
fter being jailed because of his political songs, he left to Cairo and Los Angeles in 1989 and returned to Sudan in 2002, where he was awarded a honorary doctorate.
