Ezz Eldin Mohammed, also called "Abu Sidqy", is a famous artist from Al Allaqi - West Suheil village close to Aswan, who sings in the Kenzi (or Matokki) branch of the Nubian language. His interest for songs and music started at a very young age - about 6 years old, he already liked to sing and to listen to music. When he grew up, he started adapting Nubian lyrics to songs of the famous Egyptian artists and musicians, Mohammed Abdel Wahab, Abdel Halim Hafez and Mohammed Fouad, but than he started writing and composing his own songs. At the beginning of the 1980s he sang in the chorale of the late Nubian artist Zaghloul Jumaa.
Since 1985, the artist Ezz Eldin created his own orchestra adding new instruments at the time, besides the percussion instruments the accordion and later the keyboard. He is also a great admirer of the regretted Nubian poet and artist Sidqy Ahmed Selim, and loves to recite and sing his poems. Like most Nubian artists, he advocates the preservation of the Nubian language, and strives to bring renewal to the Kenzi song while maintaining its traditional foundation.
Ezz Eldin Mohammed sings about the beauty of the Nubian nature, the Nile, Nubian life and Old Nubia and its cheerful social life, that were lost after many Nubian villages were flooded due to the construction of the Aswan High Dam. He has a huge repertoire of songs that he presents in numberless concerts and at weddings, with a beautiful chorale, to an enthousiastic audience singing and dancing the famous Nubian "Arageed" with him and merging into his songs.
