Yousef Kheiry - يوسف خيري
The great Nubian Artist Yousef Kheiry from the island Atinari in the Mahas region of Upper Nubia (Northern Sudan) is very devoted to the Nubian lands, culture and heritage and shares his deep feelings - expressed in his songs and movements - with his entusiastic public. When he sings he closes his eyes imagining himself in his Nubian village - from which he perceives his inspiration.
Yousef Kheiry started singing Arabic melodies and songs since he was at school, sometimes fitting his own words when he didn't understand their meaning. After singing traditional Nubian songs and the songs of the great artists of his time on stage, he started singing and composing his own songs after meeting Poet Mohammed Mukhtar Abdoun and others in Saudi Arabia, whre he spent more than 17 years.
Honoring Nubian tradition, the very popular Artist Yousef Kheiry likes to sing with other artists, and appeals to all artists to be knowledgeable and transmit the message of generosity, kindness and solidarity of the Nubian society and improve its strong ties with each other as well as preserve the Nubian language and heritage.
