Prof. Mohammed Ibrahim Kaboush is a famous Nubian Artist and Musician from the region of Mahas in Upper Nubia (Sudan), around the historic city of Kerma which formed the first known Nubian Kingdom since 2500 B.C. and was inhabited since about 7000 B.C.
"Kaboush", as he is commonly known, is a virtuoso of the Tambour (or Kither in Nubian), one of the few music instruments known since the Era of the Pharaohs - and represented on wall paintings and reliefs of temples and tombs - that is still played today.
No wonder Artist Kaboush plays and sings various songs in the traditional Nubian style, speaking about romance, the beauty of the nature and villages of Nubia, but also about the danger to his beautiful homeland posed by dam construction and arson burning of Nubian palm orchards.
