Assem Khitam - عاصم ختام
Assem Khitam is a talented and very creative musician and singing Artist from the Nubian town of Wadi Halfa (Northern Sudan) who sings a large variety of songs. While many of his songs focus on romance and travel, he also sings nostalgic songs about Old Halfa, the beautiful town that was submerged by Lake Nubia (Lake Nasser) after the construction of the Aswan High Dam.
Beside singing most traditional Nubian songs, which he wonderfully accompanies with his keyboard in a fresh interpretation, he also sings many Nubian songs, most being written and composed by the great Nubian poet and musician Seid Ibrahim Qurty.
Assem Khitam is one of the few Nubian Artists who also sings in Arabic, with a Sudanese intonation.
The wonderful Artist Assem Khitam intends to establish an Academy of Nubian Music in Aswan, and concentrates great efforts to that aim. We wish his dream - which is shared by all Nubians - comes true, and wish him the best support and success.
