Abdallah Bata, from the great family of Nubian Artists from Abu Simbel, was one of the pioneers of the Nubian song. His father died when he was still young, and his brther brought him up. Abdallah Bata also spoke several languages, mainly Turkish as he worked for the Turkish Embassy in Cairo.
Abdallah Bata was very creative and since the 1950s sang his own songs and songs composed for him with a sensual warm voice, describing the beauty of the land, the palms, the Nile and the golden sands. He soon became a star among Nubian artists and he was asked to perform in major Nubian events.
Abdallah Bata was also a favorite singer on several radio programs, adored as much in the Sudanese part of Nubia as in Egypt, where his song "Shamandoura" became a big success - and is sung by most major Nubian Artists until today. His sons Majdi and Adil Bata followed him as famed Artists and keep his heritage alive.
